Here's another MBRRE blurb. I went on the previous Conway Branch Snow Train
trip; it was a lot of fun.

As spring returns verdant life to the picturesque countryside of
southern New Hampshire's Monadnock Region, come join the Mass. Bay RRE
aboard THE CROTCHED MOUNTAIN LTD. Our excursion train of modern MBTA
commuter coaches will depart from Boston's North Station at 8:00 A.M.,
with convenient suburban stops, and travel over the Boston & Maine to
Nashua, thence northwesterly over the B&M's Hillsborough Branch to
Bennington, N.H., where the last passenger train to operate was our
excursion of fifteen years ago.

Relax, avoid the traffic jams, and enjoy the passing scenery as our
train wends its unhurried way alongside the streams and watercourses
that lace Hillsborough County, through Currier & Ives agrarian country
dotted with historic mill villages where the New England industrial
tradition got its start. Nature lovers, railfans, and historians will
appreciate the ample photo opportunities planned for theis trip.

>From Bennington, there will be a motorcoach transfer to the famed,
nearby Crotched Mountain West Ski Area for an afternoon in the
country, complete with horse-drawn hayrides, weather permitting.
Appetites enhanced by the fresh mountain air will be well satisfied
by the optional barbequed chicken luncheon with all the trimmings,
served in the ski area dining facility. Or, you may pack a picnic
lunch for alfresco dining.

An optional side trip to Hillsborough, limited to 120, will be
available in place of the afternoon at the mountain. We shall visit
Kemp's Mack Museum, the home of over 100 vintage commercial vehicles,
and view and photograph Nineteenth Century mill buildings and the
former B&M covered bridge spanning the Contoocook River. Lunch
facilities will be limited, so we urge you to bring a picnic hamper.

After our refreshing and enjoyable day in the vernal country, we shall
return, albeit reluctantly, to Boston, with an early evening arrival
back home. This excursion for the whole family will operate one day
only and will run rain or shine. Light snacks and beverages will be
available aboard the train. We regret that our insurance prohibits us
from allowing passengers to consume alcoholic beverages aboard this
train. Special, inflation-fighting fares are in effect through April
14th. Don't delay! Act now and save!

Departure Times: North Station 8:00 A.M./Winchester 8:15/North

The coupon, which I won't bother to reproduce this time, lists adult
fares at $34.95 (39.95 after April 14th), children at 22.95 (26.95),
luncheon reservations at 5.95, and Hillsborough side trip options at
6.95.

Such prose is damn near as rare as the special excursions it advertises!
