From WEINSTOCK@TL-20B.ARPA Wed Jul 18 11:30:51 1984 On Saturday, August 4, Amtrak is inaugurating service from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Chicago, Illinois. The special inaugural train will leave at 9:15am and stop in Holland at 10:45am, Bangor/South Haven at 11:45am, St. Joseph/Benton Harbor at 1pm, and New Buffalo at 1:50pm. Special ceremonies will be held at each stop. Regularly scheduled Pere Marguette service will begin the next day leaving Grand Rapids at 7:30am and arriving in Chicago at 9:40am. Return service will leave Chicago at 6:04pm and arrive in Grand Rapids at 10:40pm. This is a 403(b) train, supported by funding from the State of Michigan. I wonder where the Grand Rapids station will be? The last time I took a train along that route (a Chessie Steam Special) it left from an obscure track in the middle of a yard. -------
