From: Chuck Weinstock <Weinstock@TL-20B.ARPA> I understand that the High Speed Train project between LA and San Diego has been canceled due to lack of financing. Anyone out there have any additional information? -------

From: hkywong@ucbcory.BERKELEY (Harry Kim Yee Wong) Last week, there was a short article in the San Francisco Chronicle stating that the plans had been sold to Amtrak for $300,000. Amtrak spokesman Arthur LLoyd said that there were no plans for Amtrak to carry on the project. From what I can gather, the LA-San Diego high-speed project had been the most promising of all the high-speed rail projects in the United States. --Harry (hkywong@ucbcory.BERKELEY)
