[comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware] XGA 64K color mode

cfreas@eeserv1.ic.sunysb.edu (Terry Freas) (11/28/90)

The October 30th announcements mention (very briefly) a 640x480x64K color
mode on the XGA. It is defined as a "16-bit direct color mode". Can
anyone clarify this? Is is a 'true-color' mode? Devoid of hardware
assistance?`

Aside from the definition, does this mode have the bandwidth to support
animation? This 640x480x256 color mode seems to, as the Audio Visual
Connection card uses it.

Thanks for any info.
