This is a follow-up on my earlier posting. It looks like the fixed drive in this machine is definitely sick. To recap: this is the original Model 60 with an ST-506 controller in slot #8 and a 5.25" 44Mb hard drive (Model 60-041). Today I removed the drive as part of my efforts to clean and reset all connectors. The drive was manufactured for IBM by Seagate and is a model ST-4053. My question: can this drive be replaced by just an equivalent Seagate disk or does it require the genuine IBM model? If I can't by a standard 5.25" drive I may look into SCSI drives as recommended by some. What about clones (Core, CMS, Procom) for the Model 60 - any experiences? Thanx in advance for any help.
