[comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware] Where is the UART?

altman@sbcs.sunysb.edu (Jeff Altman) (04/14/91)

On the planar board of the 55sx, where is the 16550 UART
and is it possible to replace it with a 16550ANF. In other
words, I want a UART with a working FIFO!

While your at it, could you also explain what the UART does and what
function a working FIFO does?

Thanks
