we recently aquired a used ps2 model 80. when trying to add a new board or remove the ether card it came with, the machine gave an error 165 at startup. with the ether card and no other cards it boots without a hitch. is there a setup program we need? Rich rearley@murphy.com

Yes, there is a setup program that must be used to configure all new add-on boards for PS/2's. The program can be found on the Model 70/80 reference disk. The name of the program that must be executed is called SC.EXE which stands for Set Configuration. Once the program is loaded it has several menu options for configuring the computer. You should be able to just run the Automatic configuration option. That's all there is to it! Good luck. -steve
