[comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware] Identifying MCA boards.

RBYAML@ROHVM1.BITNET (Aengus Lawlor) (05/24/91)

A colleague has a number of unidentified MCA boards in a cupboard, and
asked me for help in identifying them. Is there a way to read the device
number from the card, and look that up in some list somewhere, or do I
have to resort to wild guesses?

(I'm not too familiar with PS/2s, but the reference disk setup can tell
whether I insert the correct reference disk for a device, so I presume
it is reading something from the card that tells it what reference file to
look for. Is there a utility that will report that reference number to me,
or am I mistaken is thinking that the Reference diskette won't print the
information on the screen for me.)

I'll monitor this group for a few weeks, time/workload permitting, but
e-mail replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Aengus

"How about some of that famous Dublin wit, Barman?"
"Certainly, sir. Would that be Dry or Sparkling?"
