>As far as I am aware, there is one DASDDRVR.SYS for *all* PS/2s except the >Model 30; it installs the bits needed for the appropriate system and BIOS >revision. The Model 30 one is different (the machine itself is substantially >different, e.g. it isn't MCA). Two points: 1. DASDDRVR.SYS was once recommended for *ALL* PS/2s, but now with all new models (35 SX, 40 SX, L40 SX, 57 SX, 90 XP 486, 95 XP 486, etc.) it no longer is a "general" PS/2 with DOS fix. However, you are correct in that there's no harm in installing it anyway, since it only will take up memory if there is something to fix. Also, if IBM finds BIOS problems in these newer models in the future, I think it's a safe bet that the fixes will be incorporated in a newer DASDDRVR.SYS. 2. DASDDRVR.SYS will in fact help out a PS/2 Model 30. I believe without it, they initially had all sorts of floppy problems, especially formatting them on DOS 3.3. DASDDRVR.SYS should be used on all older PS/2 models that run DOS. It doesn't do anything good for a 95 XP 486 for example, but nor does it do anything bad. - Darius ========================================================================= BITNET: U39648@UICVM | "I'd rather laugh with the sinners Internet: u39648@uicvm.uic.edu | than cry with the saints, ====================================| the sinners are much more fun, "Don't set fire to strangers." | and only the good die young." - Mr. Zarniwoop | - Billy Joel
