I have just started reading up on OS/2 programming and have a question regarding named pipes. What is needed for, and how does one use named pipes to communicate between a DOS app client and and OS/2 server process across a network? Thanks, Anthony Green green@ai.toronto.edu

Microsoft Press has an excellent book by Ralph Ryan called "Lan Manager, A Programmer's Guide", that explains Named Pipes in detail (P. 338-366). [ISBN 1-55615-166-7] For specifics on DOS Wksta to OS/2 Server communication, and the libraries associated with this, you'll need the Lan Manager 2.0 PTK, which will be available shortly.
