Greetings, We seem to have had an occurance were OS/2 running LAN MAN 2.0 & the HPFS386.IFS lost or deleted files and directories. The sequence of events were as follows: All files and dirs exist and LAN MAN/OS2 is running fine. OS/2 and/or LAN MAN causes a 'systems halt'. OS/2 is rebooted and comes up through the HPFS's autocheck. A 'dir' shows that all the directories have vanished. There is no evidence of any autocheck reorganization file (thoses FILE.xxx files that autocheck uses to recover corrupted or damaged files and directories) Dir's reports 648MB free on a 650Mb drive. My conclusion is the files and directories have been cleared from the HPFS's allocation map. I believe the data is still on the disk. Does anyone know of an HPFS disk snooper? Perhaps I could correct or rebuild the HPFS allocation map. BTW: Has this ever happened to anyone else?
