I have a question that I hope you will forgive me for, because I'm sure you've heard it alot lately. BUT... I've been receiving multiple messages lately from the same newsgroups. For example, I received the sending "TIME WELL SPENT" four times from bio-research, thrice from bio-news, and twice from bio-sci. Is there a way to prevent this? It is bad enough that I get the same message once from each newsgroup to which I subscribe when someone posts to all newsgroups, but getting more than one copy from the same group generates an ungodly amount of mail that I really don't want to spend time deleting. Any assistance you can lend on the matter will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. -Tony ******************************************************************************** * * "I have nothing to declare except my genius." * * -Oscar Wilde, To revenue officers in America, 1882 * * aarment@desire.bitnet * *******************************************************************************

Tony, The person who posted the message got a bit carried away. Unfortunately there is no way to block separate postings and this is what appeared to have happened, not a breakdown in the distribution system. All I can do is advise people NOT TO DO THIS! As far as eliminating all of the mail, I will note again that the adoption of newsreading software on your system would eliminate the need for you to get bulletins in your mail file and would reduce this problem greatly. -- Sincerely, Dave Kristofferson GenBank Manager kristoff@genbank.bio.net
