[bionet.users.addresses] mail/file transfer problems to JANET

D31%TRANAVM1@PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU (suleyman aydin) (01/17/91)

Dear netfolk,

As can be seen from the header, i am on the Bitnet/EARN site and can not
send documents to JANET. To make it easy, usually i send them all in BINARY
form in .arc or .zip form.

From my EARN/Bitnet site, sendfile command does not work because the address
is seen very long by the mailer.
On the other hand, to send them in mail creates some problems, due to the
the TRUNCATION of .arc or .zip files to 80 immediately...

Shall i give up to send my documents in compressed (.arc or .zip form) and
send them as they are? (But then they seem to be a little long..for Bitnet and
also i am not sure about the gateway. Some alphabetic characters may build
problems, for instance @ is spelled as sh and is spelled as ch in Turkish
and i know that these characters are used in programming (i am not a programmer
and do not know Basic even!!).

What may be the solution?

Note:i tried to send it via cunyvm, writing as " user%janet-address@CUNYVM.cuny
edu " But it did not work either.
