Hi !
I'm doing a survey on translators for geometric IC design formats. In
particular both way translators for these formats CIF, AIF, GDS2,
EDIF1.1.0 and EDIF2.0.0. The information collected is for non-commercial
reasons. All information in the strictest confidence. A summary to the
net can be posted (with names removed).
I'm interested in these points ;
What type of translators do you have (if any) ?
(e.g. CIF->AIF etc )
If so did you write it yourself ?
What language did you use (C, FORTRAN, PASCAL ) ?
Did you use any special techniques to make your
translator (such as YACC and LEX to make the parser) ?
If no was it a commercial product or public domain ?
What was the name of the supplying institution ?
Is your translator tool part of a larger package ?
If so,
Did the translator come with the design system you use ?
If yes, which ( ie Mentor, VTI ) ?
If no,
Are there any "utility type" extra features of the tool (such as
plotting to Postscript) ?
Is the translator an essential/integrable part of the design route you
use ?
Do you use it to move data from one design system to another ?
If so which design systems ?
Are the design systems running on the same platform ?
Which platforms ?
What hardware and operating system platforms do you use ?
(ie DEC VAX/VMS, APOLLO, SUN, IBM )
Thank you for your co-operation !

P.S. This has nothing to do with my employers.
