[comp.lsi.cad] Cadence Users Group Software Exchange

botticel@olympus.crd.ge.com (David J. Botticello) (11/17/89)

Greetings Cadence Users,

As was mentioned in the Cadence Users Group Meeting this past week, I
have volunteered to serve as a clearing house for the exchange of Cadence
related programs. This applies mostly to those codes developed in Skill,il,
DBaccess, though submissions of Dracula Runsets for strange uses, or fortran/C
code for manipulating Dracula Input/Output will also be accepted.

I have come up with a basic plan of attack for major distributions of the
code sets. I have sent mail off to Cadence to find out their reactions, as
it includes them in the loop. When I hear back I will let everyone know
the details. As for turning around new entries, I invision a two fold process.
I will create two mailing lists. The first list will be those people who
want to be kept informed of new code on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis. This
list I will send a synopsys of new code that has come in since the last
list, and a yearly compilation of all availible code. I will then mail code
on a request basis, this may at some time become an automated mail service
such as the various net-based archive servers. The second list will be those
that want the code as soon I get it. Think about whether you want to be on
this list, it might mean a lot of stuff that is useless to you.

Now, to get this rolling, we need source code input. For now I will accept
input to the mail account in the reply line, or my sign. If this gets to
be too large I will set up a special mailing address for code submissions.
I do want to make one point, I will not be serving this as an information
forum. This will strickly be source code depository. I will not set up
any automatic forwarding of submissions. There already is a mailing list
for that (vlsiic@cmc.ca). I also, will handle bug reports to the authors
and will do my best to apply the patches, though I will probably just
package the patches with the code.

So, let's start sending the code in. I'd like to begin to catagorize and
set up synopsis as soon as possible.

Thanks

Dave
