[comp.lsi.cad] How to write a Calma tape?

mayo@wrl.dec.com (Bob Mayo) (11/15/90)

I have a Calma format file (produced by Magic) and I need to create a
Calma stream tape. My theory is that I can use the Unix "dd" command to shove
the bits onto the tape and I'll be done. Can anybody out there verify this?
Do you know what blocksize Calma stream tapes use?

P.S. In the past I've just given people a Calma-format file on a Unix or VMS
tape, but in this case the shop can only handle an actual stream tape.

Calma stream tapes are either 800 or 1600 bpi, with a blocksize =
recordsize = 2048. Yes, the unix "dd" command works well.
