[comp.lsi.cad] Patches to SPICE 3D2

rustyh@wam.umd.edu (Rusty Haddock) (12/26/90)

I have just finished getting SPICE 3D2 up on my SYSV machine.

In the process I have found a few bugs (quite a few).

- Many cause the program to crash because of memory access violations,
some have to do with handling iplots and ordinary plots (MFB) better in
nutmeg and some are just to get it to compile on my poor old sysV
compiler!
- The level 6 mos model now works too, and I added log x asciiplots (for
what its worth)!
- I have also added the code (& modified what was there) to get Polar
and Smith plots going.
- "show" command doesn't crash the program (if its used before the cct is
	run).
- The MFB's Arcs have better resolution (done in the interface not in mfb
    routines. (usefull in smith plots))
- The MFB term is re-initialised if you set term after startup
- You can specify a term on the commandline which will override the
spiceinit term (if youve specified one)
- postscript mfbcap entry.
- listing programs with long logical lines won't cause problems
- 'stepping' through a simulation will work (there were some bad declarations)
- a postscript mfbcap entry(a bit redundant now there's the hardcopy postscript)
- many other fixes (that I cant think of at the moment)

If anyone is interested in getting a copy of the patches, drop me a line
at the email address below. (Note if you send to the above address, I'll
probably ignore it, or it won't get to me since I'm only using this account
temporarily whilst my own newsfeed is down)

Many of these bugs I reported to the lads at Berkeley last time (3C1)
but I think they just piped them to /dev/null! (You may do the same
of course!!)

Naturally if anyone has had a go at fixing bugs themselves, I would
like to hear about it (having gone through the procedure for 3a6, 3b1, 3c1
and 3d2 it would be nice not to have to wait for the next release to
get these bugs fixed)

BTW has anyone added the code to get tracing going and does anyone know
whats needed to do the sensitivity analysis. (and while I'm at it to
add non-linear capacitors)
