[comp.lsi.cad] CIF read into Magic 6.3

bedk@ICSI.Berkeley.EDU (Brian E. D. Kingsbury) (03/14/91)

I'm having difficulties getting CIF files read into Magic 6.3.
The problem is in reading the labels...

The CIF file contains perfectly standard label commands like
the following:

94 Vddv 1900 1700 CMS;
94 GNDv 3400 1700 CMS;
94 Vddh 2300 3400 CMF;

Yet when I read the file into magic (cif istyle lambda=1.0(nwell))
I get error messages like the following:

Moving label "Vddv" from m2contact to metal1 in cell rdrive.
Moving label "GNDv" from m2contact to metal1 in cell rdrive.
Moving label "Vddh" from capcontact to m2contact in cell rdrive.

And, sure enough, the labels have been moved from the layers I
want them on to layers I don't want them on.

This is *extremely* inconvenient.

Has anyone encountered this problem before, and does anyone know
of a good fix or workaround for it?

Many thanks,
