Hello, all; what do you think?
I thought I should be a very Nice Guy this time, and make my top level
mappings consistent by adding ALL of the known top level Internet domains.
I counted all the direct mappings of two-letter codes in the current tables:
17 entries.
I counted the number of top-level domains known (or at least tolerated) by
my Sendmailer: 229 entries.
I then started figuring:
- I need one rule per top level domain.
- I must publish the back-mapping rule in the international tables.
That means that my tables must be (229-17) 212 lines - at least.
- All the others must do the same thing.
13 countries have mappings for "edu" in the tables.
13 * 212 = 2756 entries, just for mapping known top level Internet domains.
Currently, they are 1457 entries long, of which 424 lines are top-level domain
entries, including the 17 with well-published reverse mappings.
That means that the next version will be (1457-424+2756) 3789 lines long.
No big problem...just thought you should know about the calculation.
BTW, I append the list of top level domains I arrived at.
The list includes the 17 with well-defined (two-way) mappings also.
