You will be glad to hear that I have now finished the first draft of RFC 1148bis. I will be sending this in the next message (about 250k). This is in the format of an Internet Draft for a proposed internet standard, and is being submitted as an Internet draft. I solict comments on technical aspects and editorial details. Discussion should be on the ifip-gtwy list. I propose the following schedule for its evolution. 1) Discussion of proposal at the RARE WG1 meeting in Zurich. This discussion will be on the basis of the draft document (1.0), and any email comments received. I expect to do two things at the meeting: a) Presentation of new features, and in particular the new mapping. (This will take about an hour, including discussion). b) Editting meeting. This may be in the main session, or parallel with the MHS Manager's meeting on Thurdsay afternoon (choice dependent on Urs). The time needed will depend very much on the amount of comment people have. 2) On the basis of this meeting, and electronic discussion, prepare a revised I-D. 3) Hold a half day ad hoc editing meeting at the IETF in Atlanta (end July). This should be scheduled to allow members of X.400 and 822 extensions WGs to attend. 4) Submit an RFC without further online discussion. I do not expect to see serious objections raised in Atlanta.
