***** Silicon Compiler Info Wanted *****
If anybody has encountered a Silicon Compiler or other
kind of automatic VLSI structure tile generators,
would you please inform me about source of the tool
and possible contact person (Internet address or
telefax number is ofcause preferred because of faster
contacts).
Our enviroments are SUN3/unix and VAX/vms and now also Symbolics/Lisp
workstations. Currently we are using mainly Magic 4.1 and Vivid
VLSI design tool packages. We have some experience with the
experimental FIRST silicon compiler from University of Edinburgh.
I'll post the summary of the different tools this newsgroup after
geting any information. Espesially I'm curious about the status
of the MacPitts - anyone of its developers or users is asked for
help.
More information about the FIRST Silicon Compiler can be read from
- Denyer P.B. & Renshaw, D: VLSI Signal Processing -
A Bit-Serial Approach, Addison-Wesley, USA, 1985.
- Smith, S.G., Denyer, P.B., Renshaw, D., Asada, K.,
Coplan, K.P., Keightley, M. & Mhar, J.I.: Full-Span
Structural Compilation of DSP Hardware, Proceedings of
ICASSP-87 13.6.1, IEEE, 1987, pp. 495 - 499.
The FIRST is coupled with the NMOS technology and can be considered
as an experimental prototype for a silicon compilation. The new
version is called SECOND and it is under development. The SECOND
probably will be a commercial product but is not yet available.
Thanks for information and help!
