[comp.lsi] Memory size for Berkeley tools

sanjay@uoregon.UUCP (Sanjay Rajopadhye) (03/05/88)

  Hi,

  Do people out there have a feel for how much memory you need on a Sun 3/60
to get a reasonable performance out of the Berkeley tools. Is is a function
of the size of circuits? If so what are figures for typical Intro-to-VLSI
class projects and also MS-thesis level projects.

  Thanks,

 = Sanjay

PS: It would be nice if you could reply (by email, I'll summarize if there is
interest) soon, since we'd like to order the hardware soon.

I'd go for 8 megs of physical memory in each 3/60, and at least 40 megs
of swap area per CPU, for serious use. You could get by with less for
class projects.
