[comp.lsi] Getting started in LSI/system design

mason@reed.UUCP (Mark Mason) (12/20/88)

Hello,
I have just finished the work for my Bachelor degree in Physics at
Reed College. Now that I have the time, I am interested in learning
about computer design, both at the system and chip level. What I am
looking for is some pointers as to where to start reading. I have a
fairly good collection of data books, including some from LSI Logic
about their macrocells. What I don't have is something (good) about
how to pull it all together. Also, I have both spice3b1 and slic v.2
available to me, if there are any other software tools out there which
would make design easier, please tell me. 'Freely available' software
is preferred due to my current lack of a job.

Thanks alot, (in advance)

Mark Mason.

PS. If someone could send me a 'simple' example of how to model the
basic logic gates in slic, it would be appreciated. It seems pretty
simple, but the .sim and .drive samples in the doc come from (what
appears to be) different circuits. -- Thanks again
