Several people have pointed out that the most recent Magic technology file for MOSIS' SCMOS rules acts very unpleasantly when it is used for building floating gates. The reason why the newest scmos.tech cannot be used for building charge storage devices is rather complicated. If you are interested in finding out, please send an ATTN message to MOSIS and address me directly. However there is a remedy. I have a Magic tech file which allows you to paint CIF layers directly (you get what you paint). You may use this tech file to build almost anything you want. However (there is always a catch), this tech file checks only simple design rules. And it does not allow you to do layout extraction. Before I can come up with a solution for the scmos.tech file, this is your best bet to build floating gates using Magic, sorry. Two ways to get this tech file: (1) ftp to vlsi-cad.isi.edu. Login as anonymous. get the file cmos_g.tech (2) Send a REQUEST message to MOSIS and ask for CMOS_G.TECH file Shih-Lien Lu sllu@mosis.edu
