[comp.lsi] Unix VLSI CAD Systems and Tools

cse9@turing.newcastle.ac.uk (M.R. McLauchlan) (07/06/89)

We are currently considering moving our VLSI CAD Teaching environment
from VMS to Unix.

I would be grateful to know of the existance, suitability,
availability and potential cost of any Unix based design systems or
toolsets, that have already been used for undergraduate teaching.
Potential contacts for each system would also be most useful.

I am already aware of Electric, Magic and Oct but would still be
interested in further comments on these systems as well. Are there any
other potential systems I should be investigating.

The software should be capable of addressing the following VLSI areas:

1) Circuits and Systems
2) Testing
3) Architectures
4) Automated Design incl. languages (Silicon compilation)

Please reply by e-mail and I will endeavour to summarise the responses
I get for the network.

Many thanks, Martin
