                            presents

                         EDIF World `90

the Sixth Annual USA EDIF Users' Group Conference

                       Royal Sonesta Hotel
                     New Orleans, Louisiana

                      September 10-12, 1990

New Orleans: the Big Easy ... With a style unique, a population diverse, a
cuisine spicy, a history complex, and a music jazzy, New Orleans sets the
stage for EDIF World `90, sponsored by the USA EDIF Users' Group.

EDIF World `90 will offer a complete program of papers, panels, and other
standards issues related to EDIF. This year's conference will feature
domestic and foreign presenters, from both academia and industry. There
will be reports on EDIF implementations, proposals for extensions,
comparisons of EDIF and related standards, and information from TSCs.

Tutorials presented by leading authorities on EDIF and related topics will
be a primary feature of EDIF World `90. Notably, this year Hilary Kahn
will be teaching an Express tutorial. Express is an information modeling
language of value in describing the underlying objects and relationships in
a particular domain. Express has been developed as part of the STEP
initiative of ISO and is in use for describing a wide range of domains.
Pre-registration for Express and all tutorials is required.

The panels on Tuesday are designed to provide you with the latest
information on the current state of EDIF and where it is going, direct from
the people doing the work. Panelists will respond to your questions. Each
of the panels on Tuesday will begin with a presentation and will include
time for answering questions.

To ensure the panelists can address your interests, we encourage you to
send written questions in advance to the USA EDIF Users' Group. Please
address each question to a specific panel. Depending on the volume, not
all questions received may be addressed. We do want to leave time for
questions from the floor.

Ronald Waxman is a Principal Scientist within the Center for Semicustom
Integrated Systems at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville,
Virginia. He is involved in research related to the design of modular
digital systems: VLSI design, fault tolerance and test techniques and the
application of hardware description languages to these research areas.

Prior to his present position which began in l987, Waxman spent 32 years at
IBM. He was lead engineer for IBM in the VHSIC Hardware Description
Language (VHDL) development effort. He also acted in technical and in
management capacities and was involved with circuit, logic, and system
design; computer aided design; and hardware design languages. He holds
several patents in circuit and logic design and has authored papers on
design automation and on the use of hardware design languages in the design
process.

Waxman is a Fellow of the IEEE, a member of the IEEE Computer Society and
of the ACM. In June, l988, he was appointed Chairman of the DATC, a
position he presently holds. He is also an elected member of the Board of
