I'm not sure that there are any groups that talk about low level
hardware issues, but I'm interested in having someone point me
to a good overview paper on the different types of ICs (eg. LSI,
VLSI, ASIC, etc) as well as how/why they differ and so on. I'm
also interested in the differences down at the design and fabrication
level, if anyone has any good references (or even more ideal; online
data they could send me!) (though spec sheets and similar techie
stuff would be marginally useful at best).
I'm specifically interested in ASICs too, especially regarding the
ASIC design and simulation process, but getting a better understanding
of all the different types of ICs would be a good thing too!
