[comp.lsi] Berkeley VLSI Tools besides Magic?

ruck@beach.cis.ufl.edu (John Ruckstuhl) (09/30/90)

I have installed the recently released Magic & Irsim software on Sun
SPARCstations running SunOS 4.1 (very pleasant to install, even for a
novice such as myself).

I understand that Irsim replaces Esim. What about other components of
Berkeley's "VLSI Tools"?

A document from December 1985 refers to
    Crystal
    Eqntott
    Espresso
    Meg
    Mpack
    Mpanda
    Mpla
    Mquilt
    Multibus Design Frame
    Peg
    Pleasure
    Spice2summary
    Vlsifont
    "plus many others"

and a document from March 1985 also mentions
    Cifplot

Might I want to get these other tools, or has their functionality been
absorbed by the Magic/Irsim combination that's just been released?

If I should look for these other tools, please suggest a contact point
(emailable preferred). If you know the current status of these other
tools, or their most recent release date, I would greatly appreciate
that information also.

Thank you for your comments,
ruck.
