We've been using an HP16500 logic analysis system to test our full custom VLSI designs. We use both the pattern generator (16520B) and data acquisition (16510A) modules. As I understand, it is possible to program the pattern generator via either the RS-232 port or the HP-IB (GPIB) port. We've been wanting to do this for some time, but have never had the time to sit down and write the code. It would be ideal to take something like an ESIM file and send it down, but just being able to edit the patterns in a text file with EMACS would be a great step forward. Has anyone out there in net land done this who would like to share his/her code with us? Or does anyone know of a package that would do this? I do know that there is a third party that HP sends you to, but it appears they're set up for production tools, which we can't afford. thanks in advance. tom sullivan Washington University in St. Louis tjs@earth.wustl.edu or uunet!wucs1!tjs
