[comp.lsi] RS6000 and CAD Tools

I've been looking at cad platforms. We're presently running Mentor
on apollo 3500. Has anyone heard about the cad companies which will support the
new rs6000. I've heard that the floating point processor is about 7 times faster,
but how does it perform on graphics benchmarks? Please respond to
hb2t@virginia.edu.

I've heard Valid had plans to port it's software on to the RS6000. I
saw a demo of Allegro, Valid's Multi-chip Module layout tool running on
a RS6000 at the ASICs conference. Also with IBM now buying 12% of Valid
a full port seems likely.
