The Nelson benchmarks measure a number of parameters of system performance and allows comparisins between machines. They are not sponsored by any one vendor, measure CPU, i/o and multi-tasking factors. I have looked a his comparisons between machines and they agree very closely with mine, done using another benchmark suite. I think using a suite which has been around for years, developed by someone who is selling benchmarking rather than computers, is a good idea. It also allows results to be measured against other machines, past and future. Trying to develop a suite on short notice is a waste of time. -- bill davidsen (wedu@ge-crd.arpa) {chinet | philabs | sesimo}!steinmetz!crdos1!davidsen "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward" -me
