[comp.arch] Request hypercube machine information

lls@mimsy.UUCP (Lauren L. Smith) (06/16/87)

We are thinking of purchasing a message passing system for research purposes
and would like to get some input from the net...

We are thinking of one of the 4 hypercube systems available commercially -
Intel's iPSC, NCUBE, FPS T-Series and Ametek's System 14. I would appreciate
pros/cons, experiences with, etc. about any or any combination of theses
systems. Send your responses to me, I will summarize the responses on the
Net.

We want a system that has the software developed well enough, so we can
experiment with our applications, and not the system software!

Are there any other commercially available (this year) message passing
systems or hypercube systems available? Please let me know...

Thanks,

- Lauren Smith

When looking at hypercube-type systems, don't forget Mieko (or Meiko?)
in Bristol, England. Theirs is based on the Transputer, and has been
shipping for a little while.
