[comp.arch] IBM Vector Facility vs. Convex

How does the performance and usability of an IBM Vector Facility compare
with a Midrange Convex?   

Suppose I could choose between an IBM 3090-200S/VF running AIX, and a Convex
C-240.  Which machine is going to better support numerically intensive   
scientific processing, not all of which is readily vectorized?
