One of my co-workers happened upon an article in Byte (June 1988)... (Gaack ptuie...sigh). It actually had a more or less useful article (!) on benchmark problems/pitfalls (called, strangely enough, "Problems and Pitfalls -- What's wrong with the old benchmark programs"). It references an old Dhrystone 1.1 summary by Rick Richardson, posted to comp.arch on Sept. 20th 1987. This piqued this fellow's interest. Does anyone have Mr. Richardson's results? The results "contain many examples that illustrate the variations in benchmark performance on the same CPU at similar clock speeds"... Thanks... ---tpc--- -- I am sole owner of the above opinions.
