I am looking for simuation tools of computer architectures. At our department we are now using ISPS, but as far as I know this system is only implemented for VAX/VMS and is written in BLISS. As most of the sites here are using Unix it would be very interesting if there exist a tool for the Unix environment. Maybe even for Sunview evironment. I have heard rumors of a system named Architectures Work Bench but not where to obtain information on this system. Please mail to me if You know anything about this or something similar for computer architecture description and simulation. I will post a summary if and when enough answers arived. -- ____________________________________________________________________________ Bernhard Stockman Internet: bernhard@tds.kth.se Computer Systems Architecture Laboratory (CSALAB) Dep. of Tele Comm. and Computer Systems (TDS) Telephone: +46 8 790 90 25 The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Telefax : +46 8 24 77 84 P.O. The Architect's Workbench is an ongoing (?) project of Prof. Michael Flynn here at Stanford. He's an E.E. prof (and CISC maven: yuk!). I don't know what state it is in, but there was a recent journal article (IEEE? ACM?) called something like "and Now the Case for CISCs", in which it was described.
