[comp.arch] HICSS Minitrack on Exp. Research on Comp. Arch.

sga@sahar.eecs.umich.edu (Santosh G. Abraham) (05/08/89)

                    CALL FOR PAPERS AND REFEREES
HAWAII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SYSTEM SCIENCES - 23

	   Experimental Research in Computer Architecture

              KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII - JANUARY 2-5, 1990

Analytic models and simulations notwithstanding, a whole lot of
the problems attending a new computer architecture or implementa-
tion do not surface until one builds and performs experiments on
"real" hardware. It is also the case that even after a system is
installed, the real bottlenecks to performance are clarified only
when one performs careful measurements on that real system doing
real work. The purpose of this minitrack is to bring together
people who are building experimental systems to do architecture
research, people who are performing experiments on real systems,
and people who need the results of such experimentation for their
  own work.

Papers are invited from those that are involved in all aspects of
experimental computer architecture research, as described above.
We prefer that the resulting minitrack include researchers from
government laboratories, industrial research and development
centers, and university academicians. We also prefer that the
resulting minitrack include hardware designers, system builders,
and performance measurement experimenters. The day-long event
will include substantial opportunity for interaction between
  researchers with different perspectives.

Authors concerned about the appropriateness of their work to this
minitrack are encouraged to discuss this with the minitrack coor-
dinator. Those papers selected for presentation will appear in
the Conference Proceedings which are published by the Com-
puter Society of the IEEE. HICSS-23 is sponsored by the
University of Hawaii in cooperation with the ACM, the Computer
Society, and the Pacific Research Institute for Information
  Sciences and Management (PRIISM).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING PAPERS: Manuscripts should be 22-26
typewritten, double-spaced pages in length. Do not send submissions
which are significantly shorter. Papers must not have been
previously presented or published, nor currently submitted for
journal publication. Each manuscript will be put through a rigorous
refereeing process. Manuscript papers should have a title page that
includes the title of the paper, full name of the author(s),
affiliation(s), complete physical and electronic address(es),
telephone number(s) and a 300-word abstract of the paper.
