University of Essex Department of Computer Science TWO SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICERS Applications are invited for two SERC-funded posts in support of the development of BRAVE, an OR-parallel dialect of Prolog, and demonstration of its suitability for AI applications. A practical testbed for BRAVE is the GRIP parallel architecture, developed at UCL and now installed at UCL and Essex. One post involves further development of BRAVE on the GRIP architecture, the other post includes porting an existing natural language (NL) system from Prolog to BRAVE. Applicants should have a good honours degree in Computer Science, knowledge of Prolog and some experience in one or more of C/Unix, NL, computer architecture. Appointments will be in the range (pounds sterling) 10,548-16,665 according to age, qualifications and experience.
