Would someone be kind enough to give me pointers to PD/FD benchmarks for evaluating the performance of a multi-user Unix system? We are looking at replacing our current multi-user time-sharing machine (Gould PowerNode 9080) with a cheaper/smaller/faster machine. In particular, we will be looking at the new crop of ECL Killer Micros, but would like to be reassured about how well they will perform in this type of application. We want to be sure and measure integer and FP speed, disk and network i/o, context switch capability, and anything else that is pertinent. Pointers to any references on making such an evaluation would be very welcome as well. Pointers to move this to a different forum will also be graciously accepted.
