In the last few day, I heard on National Public Radio about AT&T's or Bell Labs research division has built a working model of an optical computer. The telephone interview didn't get into much detail at all, other than it was a research project and it could just barly control my washing machine. Does anyone have any more information about this device? Like what sort of instructions it uses, that this model is capable of doing? Other architectural details?
