Actually, MicroChannel *is* a standard (abet one you have to go license
from IBM). Gobs of PS/2s and clones have already created a near-instant
third-party board supply. 

Besides, if MicroChannel works as advertised, dropping in other processors
should be a piece of cake (And they wonder why OSF started looking at
Mach as a kernel...)
