[comp.arch] New workstations and SCSI peripherals

nick@rscene.hac.com (Nick) (05/31/90)

With the new SUN SPARC SLC and future announcements from
DG, DEC, HP, etc. a new class of workstations which have no
bus except for a SCSI interface are evolving. SCSI peripherals
like the Ether + ( from Compatible Systems, Golden Colorado )
which provides an extra Ethernet port to create a gateway,
and the SLAT ( from UNINET Santa Ana California ) which
provides serial, parallel, and synchronous communications are
the only way to interface to these workstations.

How about information on more manufacturers and Software to Support
SCSI devices? I'll post the information!

Um, did you somehow miss the announcement of the Sun 3/50 several years
ago? There are probably more of those in the field than most workstations
*with* buses.
