This is a request for information on hardware/architecture for real-time database applications. Specifically, 1. What types of storage devices should one consider for real-time applications on very large databases (over 100K records)? 2. For in-memory storage of records/data, should dynamic memory allocation be considered favorably? 3. What I/O subsystem changes can be suggested to accomodate real time applications on large databases? 4. Are there any specialized engines/cards for specific database operations (such as sort) in the market today? 5. Are there any popular hardware indexing/lookup schemes for faster data access? Thanks in advance. Mohan Palat Motorola, Inc. e-mail: uunet!motcid!palat
