I am using the Berkeley MAGIC VLSI editor V. 4.10 for my MSc. design
project and have a couple of queries that I hope someone can answer,
'cos the MAGIC Tutorial guide says nothing about what I want to know.
Whenever I edit a large cell containing subcells, MAGIC tries to write
the _subcells_. Since I ``sccs delta'' each cell type as I finish a
stable revision of it, MAGIC does not find this easy !! (:-) Does
anyone know why MAGIC tries to write cells that haven't been changed ?
For that matter, why does MAGIC insist on its own noddy-noddy timestamp
scheme ? I can't use it properly with Make (1) because MAGIC ignores the
UNIX timestamp on the files as well as re-writing things that do not need
re-writing (see above). This is ** most ** annoying.
Secondly can anyone tell me what, exactly, that damnable message
"500 rects" refers to ? MAGIC issues it about some cells from time
to time, with no explanation available. (And why is it always 500 ?)
I shall summarise to comp.lsi.cad, if enough people show interest.
Thanks in advance,
Martin.
