[comp.arch] Seeking Industrial Support for Research on "Intelligent Memory"

kelvin@cs.iastate.edu (Kelvin Nilsen) (09/22/90)

Hi,
We are currently funded by the National Science Foundation to "design
and analyze a memory module that collects garbage in real time". Our
proposed design is such that the memory module mimics traditional memory.
This allows installation of the special memory into existing computer
systems (even those with memory caches) with minimal impact on existing
system architectures.

We are nearing completion of the algorithm design, and are beginning
to look toward implementation of a hardware prototype. Since our expertise
is in computer science instead of electrical engineering, we are hoping
to find a company who might be willing to contribute expertise, laboratory
facilities, and/or additional research funding in return for licensing rights
to the patents which we are in the process of applying for. Additional
technical details are available from us for the asking.

If any of you work for companies that might be interested in supporting
this kind of research, or have friends who do, could you please send me
an email note with the name of the company, and the name, phone or email
identity of the person whom we should contact at the company?

Thank you very much.
