Recently, I started to search materials related to benchmark and test suites for C compiler. I will appreciate any information as to the program itself, FTP site, reference to magazine, places to get such information etc. I am looking for recommendations from the experts out there. BTW, if anyone interested to the result, mail me a message and I will summarize. Ben at blee%digi@uunet OR blee@digi.UUCP

It is stupid to follow-up my own post, but I need to expand this: >Recently, I started to search materials related to >benchmark and test suites for C compiler. I will >appreciate any information as to the program itself, >FTP site, reference to magazine, places to get such >information etc. I am looking for recommendations >from the experts out there. The target is unfortunately still moving in unknown speed. Let alone other configurations. In that respect, I have been suggested by Mr. Stewart that GNU CC is a reasonable approach to a degree which I agree to the fullest, since I don't expect any exotic architecture in my environment. Still, I have not received a lot answer which I assume the unclearness of the previous post must be the reason. (But, lots of soul expressed their interest in benchmarking C compiler.) Nontheless, I am searching any convenient information as to benchmarking C compiler. I will also appreciate some degree of explaintion to the design of the benchmark programs. i.e. it is used for measuring cache capacity, etc. I am not smart enough to figure out one thousand programs per week while a few dozen will do! Anyway, any information is welcomed! Thanks again!! -Ben
