[comp.arch] pointers to vhdl software

Could someone please send me pointers to places on the net (if exist)
where I can find public domain software for vhdl. I basically would
like to know what is available out there before I start writing
specifications in vhdl. 

The software doesn't have to be public domain. i.e. I am willing to
pay for it if I can use it.
