Applications are invited for the above post. The person we
are looking for will ideally be a computational linguist. However
a computer scientist specialising in Artificial Intelligence
or a semanticist with an ability to use computer based corpora
would also be acceptable.
Candidates should preferably possess a research qualification.
However candidates with good first degree would be considered,
in which case an MSc by thesis could be taken within the department.
The appointment will be for two years. Salary on the RA1B
scale in the range #11399-13495.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATES IN THE CENTRE FOR NOVEL COMPUTING

Applications are invited for Research Associate posts
(grade 1A) attached to the AMUS Project, funded by the EEC ESPRIT
Programme.
The AMUS Project aims to design a multiscalar supercomputer,
and is led by the Advanced Computer Research Institute (ACRI) in
Lyons. Other project partners are the University of Crete (FORTH)
and Sekas GmbH.
The work at Manchester will involve analysis of large-
scale computational applications and their implementation on the
proposed AMUS architecture. Applicants for the Research Associate
posts should have experience of large-scale scientific or engineering
computation, or general interests in multiprocessor
software development. The posts are available immediately, until
31st December 1991 in the first instance. The salary scale is
grade 1A, #13,399-#18,165.
