[comp.arch] VRAMS as memory

Does anyone know of any articles where VRAMS(Video RAMS) have been used as
components of system memory? I guess this was one of the suggestions for
Am29000 which requires very high instruction bandwidth.

The FPS T-Series used VRAM from TI for program and data memory for each
vector node.

The video-rate shift register ports on the VRAM were connected to the
vector hardware; the "ordinary" parallel port was connected to an
INMOS T414-15 transputer as external memory.

The T-20 had 16 vector nodes, each with their own private 1MB of VRAM.
