Yes TOPS-10 did use extended addressing, in 7.02. It got worse in 7.03, as I recall flemming was having trouble fitting all the decnet phase 4, lat, and hsc-50 support in the single section. Duh now! Glad to hear from Donald Lewine that he did a chip in a weekend! ahhahaha sigh. I don't think anyone would pay a lot to make one either, but a reasonable price for a software emulator that ran on an inexpensive fast off the shelf chip? Maybe.... Oh and by the way......I recall that someone had written an extended instruction emulator for the KI-10. Does anyone happen to have ...like... a source or a hardcopy of this? I remember the guy claiming that they went in and burned out the increment byte pointer instruction in their KI with a soldering iron. Then they were able to implement IBP, and adjust byte pointer in software. Plus the extended instructions. The emulator was loaded like PFH or virtual DDT. I'd love to see a copy of it. I'm struggling with the EDIT instruction. -- Mark Hittinger [answering machine (606)-272-2424 PO BOX 43358 Middletown, KY 40243
