I am teaching a computer architecture course, and I am using the Hennessy/Patterson book. In one of the labs I am preparing - using the software that accompanies the book- I am trying to demonstrate how program transformation affect the cache performance. I would like them to write a program, crosscompile it for dlx, simulate it and feed its address trace to the dinero cache simulator. On a first reading, it seems to me that dlxsim does not (cannot?) generate an address trace usable by dinero. Is there way to make dlxsim do so? Or did somebody modify it to make it generate the address trace? Please email your answers and I'll summarize them to the net if there is any interest.
